Computer Programs
Computer programs were compared to literary works, and although regulated by Law 9609/96, their protection takes place according to the Copyright Law - Law 9610/96 -, with some restrictions, such as the absence of most moral rights of the author, and shorter exclusivity period.
Registration is optional, and if it occurs, it is done with INPI - National Institute of Industrial Property.
Registration is intended to record a creation date, an author, and a content. There is no examination of merit on program originality.
